Focus on Immigration: Canasta básica – The Market Basket Survey

Take a in depth look into the life migrants face once in the US.  Through this hands on workshop we will explore how difficult it is for someone new to the US to feed their family, how their expectations are vastly different than the reality and the mechanisms people must use to survive.  By exploring the prices of everyday groceries in someone’s home country v. here. This interactive workshop leads to discussion of and reflection on how our food system guarantees low prices, and how different it is to shop and eat in Mexico. 

This meeting is required for the border trip applicants; however, non-applicants are also welcome to attend.
