The National Council of Jewish Women Celebrates Supreme Court Decision on DACA Recipients

WASHINGTON – The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) today celebrated the Supreme Court’s decision in the Department of Homeland Security, et al v. Regents of The University of California, et al, which allows Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients to remain in the country without fear of deportation. Sheila Katz, CEO of NCJW, responded with the following:

“The Supreme Court’s decision today means that nearly 800,000 young people, who are Americans in every way but their status, remain protected.

“This is an important victory that reaffirms the United States should be a place where communities and families can thrive regardless of where they were born. We must return to this vision and will continue to do everything in our power to protect Dreamers from deportation and work for a future where every person can live without fear, regardless of their immigration status.

“Since this victory could be reversed by the administration’s ability to end DACA entirely, we urge the Senate to act now to pass the Dream Act (HR 6) to provide Dreamers with a permanent path to citizenship.”
