Filling Backpacks and Meeting Student Needs
By Michelle Reiff
Once again, NCJW Colorado held a successful school supply drive to provide students at our adopted school, Sunset Ridge Elementary in Westminster with supplies they need to start the year off on the right foot. Due to generous donations from our members, we were able to order and fill 50 backpacks for intermediate students, primary and kindergartners with supplies such as markers, notebooks, pencils, crayons, folders and much more. Several members shopped for supplies (getting great deals) at stores such as Walmart and Staples. Staples also generously donated quite a large number of their school supply promotional boxes which both filled the backpacks and allowed us to donate extra supplies to the teachers. Members gathered at my house to fill the backpacks which Jacqui Beckett and I later delivered to the school.
The students and school administration, including principal Roger Vadeen, were so grateful for the time, effort, and financial donations put into this most rewarding NCJW Colorado tradition. Thank you to everyone who participated.
